Essence Cosmetics Matt Matt Matt Lipstick.
One of the exciting launches of the Essence Spring / Summer 2017 launches is the Essence Cosmetics Matt Matt Matt Lipstick ($4.49, People Drug Mart | available here). Available in 8 vibrant shades as well as costing less than $5 it was a reasonably exciting new product to get enthusiastic about. It can be difficult to get a matte lip gloss formula right so I wanted that essence wasn’t likely to cut corners. I am ready to be impressed!
From the collection, I obtained 6 shades from the start and was keen that will put all of these to the test. The product range seems to lean heavily when it comes to red and purple colorings, so if you are a fan of these type of colors, you’ll want to check them out in-store!

The Essence Cosmetics Matt Matt Matt Lipstick formulation has a lightweight though it can feel a little dry in addition to waxy. It’s not gonna give you the same kind of ease and comfort as a $30-40 type of lipstick as a result it can be forgiven slightly of those drawbacks. I think this lipstick is an impressive formula irrespective, especially for a drugstore model.
The lipsticks have a fairly creamy consistency that glides and does apply easily on the lips. Just one stroke is sufficient to get a full solid colour payoff. Across all six colours, the method is consistently even though I find any lighter colours to wear and apply a lot better than any darker shades. There is a little lipstick-y smell and taste to these.
The lasting power is quite decent, 3 hours or so if you’re not wanting to eat or drinking. I personally discover the formula to require a bit more work than other lipsticks I’m accustomed to so I often apply some lip balm underneath to really make it more comfortable. It also stains a person’s lip slightly as the shade wears off. There is a great variety of reds and purples in which I’ve gotten to try out – I actually quite enjoy the variety for wished there were more naked honeymoon colours in the collection.

These lipsticks employ a similar packaging to an older Maybelline lipstick range that was brought out a few years ago. I find these lipsticks as being a fantastic value for money and in person I’d get a lot more work with out of these on a daily basis as long as they were a little bit more low repair and don’t stain. With that formula, I often reserve them for when I don’capital t need to stay out for days!
